Sturtevant Double Trouble

Sturtevant Double Trouble is the catalogue from the Museum of Modern Art exhibition that Peter Eleey organized a decade ago, opening just six months after the death of the artist. The design of the cover reflects the famous Warhol catalogue. Elaine start event was a genius artist, one I only had the great privilege to know briefly through Peter. Not all museum exhibitions get catalogues and this one, both the show and the book, are extremely historically important. The catalog begins and ends with pages of quotes. I’ll leave you with this one: “I’d prefer to remain a mystery; I never like to give my background and, anyway, I make it all different all the time I am asked.”
