John Armleder

I was very fortunate to contribute to this catalogue for a group of shows featuring John Armleder. Armleder is brilliant, conceptual Swiss artist now in his late 70s whose works transcend medium and form. I am particularly enamored with his paintings and curated an exhibition of two series at the Aspen Art Museum. My essay here contextualizes his work with the tradition of American abstraction.
