Lari Pittman’s paintings are almost defiantly abundant. Pattern, color, language, ornament, symbols, references, beauty, anxiety, pleasure—everything is allowed to coexist. There is something wonderful about an artist refusing to simplify the world in order to make it easier to understand.
This is the 2005 Villa Arson monograph identifiable by its distinctive red cloth cover. I picked this up at the Regen Projects summer book sale. Galleries often do these and they are great places to fill in gaps in your art book collection as there are often great finds at great prices!
