Thought

I believe in the power of thought, the importance of language, and the impact of words. Many times, I have manifested the outcome of a situation. Today, I read in the Tao that unless we properly train the fire of the intellect, we will be consumed by endless thoughts, leading to exhaustion and worse. What do you think about what you think about?

How much time are you in your head, and can you bring that energy into your heart and lower into your center? Everything takes practice. Guides and adversaries abound—welcome each one with gratitude, acknowledging who and what they are for you.

A few years ago, artist James Jean shared Azemichi (1991), a photograph by Makoto Aida, and ended his description of the other artist’s practice by saying they “suffer from the same affliction of never wanting to do the same thing twice.” Even if something or someone looks or feels like something or someone else, it still has the opportunity to be uniquely itself. Look closely to make sure what you are seeing is what you assumed, knowing that everything we think and say is only a reflection of ourselves.
