Desperate, Scared, But Social

OCMA, Orange County Museum of Art

The current 2025 California Biennial on view through the end of the year is a must see if you haven’t already been there! As we navigate our way through the world, some of our wisest guides, I believe, are our kids and their friends. Want to know what’s true? Ask them. One of the other things that I truly love about this exhibition is that it also contains objects and fashion and music from my youth. A highlight of my time as CEO and Director of OCMA was the bands that played at the opening of this exhibition this summer, including Emily’s Sassy Lime and Bikini Kill! And watching them play Rebel Girl alongside The Linda Lindas is an art experience I will hold forever! Go hear them speak (Emily Ryan, Wendy Yao, Amy Yao and Kathleen Hanna) together at the museum on December 14 at 2pm.

Equally exciting and pride making is the section of the exhibition curated by the OCYC—Orange County Young Curators. As Aindrea Emelife explains of this week's podcast, being able to picture yourself as a curator is an incredibly powerful opportunity!
